What is LecturaBloom?
LecturaBloom is a free, bilingual (Spanish and English) reading comprehension platform for elementary and secondary classrooms. It guides students from literal understanding to critical thinking about a text, following the six levels of Bloom's Taxonomy, and shows the teacher exactly what each student needs to move forward.
Who is it for?
For bilingual and dual language teachers, special education teachers, and reading teachers who need to differentiate instruction, support students learning in two languages, and align their teaching to the Texas TEKS and STAAR-style questions.
How does it work?
- The teacher enters a text, the learning objective, and the TEKS standard, and gets a code for the class.
- Students join with that code and answer six questions, one for each level of Bloom's Taxonomy, adapted to their grade.
- When a student struggles, they get scaffolding: a step-by-step guided exercise before moving on. At the end, they write a constructed response using the RAC strategy.
- The teacher sees each student's results and receives an intervention plan with groups, strategies, and suggested activities.
Questions, scaffolding, and plans are generated with artificial intelligence from the text the teacher chooses. Students do not chat with a chatbot or create accounts: they only read and complete comprehension activities.
What is it built on?
LecturaBloom is built on CALMA, a classroom analysis and intervention framework developed by educator Sandra Manchola. Its five pillars are Context (mistakes are information, not failure), Attention (one concept at a time), Language (Spanish as a scaffold toward academic English), Modeling (making thinking visible), and Accompaniment (support before evaluating).
